Description:

Leica IIIf Red Dial Self-Timer Nr. 684745 made in Midland, Ontario and engraved "Midland Ontario," with 50mm Summarit f1,5 (Germany) Nr. 891732. The rear of the top plate is engraved "Ejército Ecuatoriano DO" which translates to "Ecuadorian Armed Forces." The "DO" designation likely refers to an Operational Detachment that used this camera and lens. The history of the Ejército Ecuatoriano can be traced back to the 16th century and the institution is currently active today, using the slogan "Without sacrifice, there is no victory." This camera has been recently serviced and is working as designed; the lens shows prominent cleaning marks and haze appropriate to its age. A fascinating set with historic and topical significance. Also included is an unmarked ever-ready case for a different camera, a Sixtus exposure meter in its case, and a brochure for the Leica Ig camera. Condition: Excellent + overall
